This style is about 11" wide by 9-1/2" high by 3-1/2"
A woman requested a bag like my double flapped bags except with a wide strap - that pretty much requires a gusset to attach it to - something the other double flapped bags don't have. So, I proceeded to design just that - a double flapped bag with a gusset. This design has two large pockets - one under the flap/s and another full width pocket on the inside/back. The 4 oz. moccasin cowhide leather that it was built with is soft, yet strong and long lasting and is tanned/made in the USA. It is made with no hardware, no lining, nor sewing/thread, etc. Every bag that I build is a one of a kind. The cost of a bag, like pictured just below, is $435. If I braid the down the center of the flat strap, the cost is $475.

This bag is about 11" wide by 9-1/2" high by 3-1/2". Here it is next to a ruler.
In this picture both flaps are raised to show the front outside pocket under them.
Here, one flap is raised showing the main compartment.
A close-up of the pocket under the flaps.
This picture shows the tassels/fringe hanging from the braided strap attachments.
This shoulder bag is made with the color Rust moccasin cowhide leather - it has no hardware, no lining, nor is any thread used in this braided construction. The strap doesn't have braiding down the length of it, nor does it have an applique on the flap.
Here the bag is shown with top flap raised for access.
These two pictures are of the same bag - another of these custom handmade leather purses that is also completely braided. This one has dark Brown purse parts of two colors (dark Brown and Mahogany) used for the braiding. On the flap it has (what I call) a 'tri-loop applique'. It has the same two pockets described about the other purses on this page. The picture on the right shows it with the flaps flipped back showing the front pocket.
This leather purse is made with four colors. The pieces of the bag are all Mahogany. The color of the leather around its top flap, and one of the colors used on the two-tone seams, is dark Brown. The color Rust is used around the under flap, and is the other color used on the seams. It has a braided strap with the two-tone braid down the length of it. The lightest color, Walnut, is used for some of the side tassels.
These two pictures are also of another custom, handmade bag. It's made with dark Brown leather and has Rust lacing. It is braided much like the other bags on this page ...except this strap is not braided and it has no applique on the flap. The tassels hanging from the straps ends are quite long ...around 12".
Here are three pictures of another custom, handmade leather purse. This one is made with the Rust colored 4 oz. moccasin cowhide. It has an outside front pocket under the flap/s and another full width pocket on the inside/back of it. It has a braided strap with long tassels hanging from where it is attached.
This picture is not a picture of the similar purse to the left. They are both made using Mahogany parts, and the same two colors are used for the braiding However, the locations of the two colors in the braiding are all different. And, this one doesn't have the Walnut colored tassels that the other one has a few of.
This handmade custom leather purse was made with Mahogany pieces braided together with dark Brown laces. Like a lot of the purses and handbags that I make, it has no hardware, lining, or thread. Completely braided with 1/4" wide lacing are the seams, the edges of the flaps, and down the center/length of the strap. There are long tassels hanging from the strap attachments. It has a circle applique braided on the flap. This purse also has two pockets - one under the flap/s and another full width pocket on the inside/back.
Here, both flaps are raised like for access to the front pocket.
