I have hand made many different sizes of this leather clutch bag. It is completely braided together as is the wrist strap. I also substitute a long braided shoulder strap on this style. Often I add an applique or monogram to the pocket.
The leather used is moccasin cowhide. It's soft, supple, and very durable.
If you look closely, at the bottom near corner, you can see how the larger back piece is gathered to the front/pocket. This gives it more dimension to hold more.
The large #10 YKK brass zipper used is very strong and long lasting.
